Caritas Social Action Network has launched a resource on Catholic Social Teaching (CST) called Caritas in Practice.
Caritas in Practice has been designed to assist new and established volunteers, staff members and trustees to become familiar with the main principles of CST that underpin the work of charities in the Caritas network in England and Wales.
The resource includes descriptions of seven key values, questions for reflection, and examples of each value in practice drawn from charities in the Caritas network. It assumes no previous knowledge of CST and is intended for people of all faiths and none. The reading and reflection can be done individually or through group discussion.
Sr Judith Russi SSMN, Director of EducareM, who has worked for many years in Catholic education and formation, wrote the original text. Marking the launch of the publication, at a virtual gathering of charity directors in the network, CEO Phil McCarthy expressed his ‘gratitude to her and to the many people from our member charities who contributed to piloting the resource.’
Caritas in Practice can be downloaded from our Publications page.
