Responding to the announcement from Work and Pensions Secretary Damian Green that those with chronic health conditions will no longer be reassessed in order to continue to receive their Employment Support Allowance,1 CSAN CEO Philip McCarthy said:
“We are delighted that the Government has chosen to drop the requirement for people with long term illnesses to pass work capability reassessments. It makes good sense to stop frequent reassessments for people with progressive conditions which will not improve, and allows them to plan for the future without the fear that their support may be taken away.”
