George O’Neill took up post as the new Chief Executive of the Cardinal Hume Centre on 2 July 2018.
George joined the Centre from L’Arche London, part of an international charity providing housing and support to adults with learning disabilities, where he worked as Director and Community Leader. He had previously held senior positions in higher education, national and local government and non-governmental organisations.
Robert Arnott, Chair of Trustees, said: “I’m very pleased to welcome George to the Cardinal Hume Centre. He brings with him a wealth of leadership skills and a deep commitment to helping people facing disadvantage to turn their lives around. The Cardinal Hume Centre has an excellent track record in supporting some of the most vulnerable and isolated people in our community. I have every confidence that George will lead our vitally important charity, now in its fourth decade, from strength to strength.”
George O’Neill said: “It’s a huge privilege to join the team at the Cardinal Hume Centre. It is a very special place with an important role to play. I’m really looking forward to working with the incredibly dedicated staff, volunteers and donors to build on the positive impact the Centre has.”
George succeeds Cathy Corcoran OBE who led the Cardinal Hume Centre for 15 years. Cathy retired in June 2018 following a 40-year career in the voluntary sector.
